On Sunday, February 4, 2007, at Ravinia’s Bennett-Gordon Hall, the Rachel Elizabeth Barton Foundation presented three talented young African-American string players as soloists with the Highland Park Strings. The students, ranging in age from 9-14, were recipients of REB Foundation’s Instrument Loan Program and Education Grants. Adé Williams, Clayton Whitmore-Penrose and Joshua Greer each performed a movement of an Afro-French violin concerto from the 1700s from the REB Foundation’s curriculum project, the String Student's Library of Music by Black Composers.
